A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING AND EXPRESSING THE GRATITUDE OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE STUDENTS OF BOILING SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL FOR DEMONSTRATING THE VERY EXCELLENCE THAT THE STATE IS STRIVING TO MAKE A REALITY IN ALL SOUTH CAROLINA SCHOOLS AND ENCOURAGING EACH STUDENT TO CONTINUE TO BE A SOURCE OF GREAT PRIDE AS THEY GRADUATE AND BECOME AMBASSADORS OF SOUTH CAROLINA EDUCATION IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE STATE.

Whereas, Boiling Springs High School of Spartanburg School District Two was chosen from all the state's secondary schools to be honored with the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest Award for the year 2000; and

Whereas, Carolina First Bank and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators honor two elementary schools, one middle school, and one secondary school each year with the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest Award in recognition of excellence in student achievement, faculty training, administration, and community involvement; and

Whereas, it is with great pride, but little surprise, that the Boiling Springs community learns that its high school has received this esteemed award, since residents have long supported and appreciated the strong academic achievement and rich extracurricular activities for which the school is known; and

Whereas, the student body of Boiling Springs High School deserves a great deal of the credit for this prestigious award through its commitment to academic excellence, school pride, and civic mindedness; and

Whereas, any instance where one is declared exemplary is not only an honor, but a responsibility, insofar as one attracts the attention of all those searching for role models. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate and express their gratitude to the students of Boiling Springs High School for demonstrating the very excellence that the State is striving to make a reality in all South Carolina schools and encourage each student to continue to be a source of pride as they graduate and become ambassadors of South Carolina education in communities across the State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Thomas White, Principal of Boiling Springs High School, and the teachers, staff, and students of Boiling Springs High School.
