A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE BROOKLAND-CAYCE BEARCATS BOYS BASEBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2000 CLASS AAA STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were very pleased to learn that the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats boys baseball team won the 2000 Class AAA state baseball championship with a thrilling 13-11 win over the Ft. Mill Yellow Jackets; and

Whereas, the Bearcats entered the last inning tied at eleven runs each when senior outfielder Josh Cain hit a home run to put the Bearcats ahead for good; and

Whereas, at one point in the game, the Bearcats were down by nine runs, and the courage and determination showed by the entire team in battling back from this deficit is not only a credit to each member of the team but to their school as well; and

Whereas, senior Chris Griffin pitched the final five innings and allowed one hit to a team that batted around in each of the first two innings; and

Whereas, this championship gives Brookland-Cayce coach Brian Hucks a state championship in his first year as coach, and his excellent leadership throughout the season played a key role in the Bearcats' success; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this outstanding group of young men, their coaches, and staff upon the occasion of winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats boys baseball team for winning the 2000 Class AAA state baseball championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Brian Hucks and the principal of Brookland-Cayce High School.
