That they have duly and carefully considered the same, and recommend that the same do pass:

TO APPROVE THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES SUBMITTED TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY PURSUANT TO SECTION 1-30-10 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 1-30-10(H) of the 1976 Code, the governing authorities of specified state agencies and departments, including the Department of Natural Resources, were required in 1994 and are required every five years thereafter to submit a mission statement to the General Assembly which must be approved by a joint resolution. The Department of Natural Resources submitted such a mission statement which reads as follows:
"The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is the advocate for and steward of the state's natural resources and is proactive in protecting the state's natural resources for use and enjoyment by future generations of South Carolinians. The DNR develops and implements policies and programs for the conservation, management, utilization, and protection of the state's natural resources based upon scientifically sound resource assessment and monitoring, applied research, technology transfer, natural resources planning, public education, outreach, technical assistance and customer involvement."
SECTION 2. The General Assembly, by this joint resolution, hereby approves the mission statement of the Department of Natural Resources as contained in Section 1.
SECTION 3. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
