Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to Basic Skills Assessment Program, Minimum Standards of Student Achievement for Grades 1, 2, 3, 6, and 8 (Repeal), designated as Regulation Document Number 2370, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
The State Board of Education repealed in its entirety Regulation 43-262.7, Basic Skills Assessment Program, Minimum Standards of Student Achievement for Grades 1, 2, 3, 6, and 8. A new statewide assessment program will be implemented in Spring 1999 replacing the BSAP tests in grades 1, 2, 3, 6, and 8. Since the BSAP tests will no longer be administered, the standards for student achievement for the BSAP tests are no longer applicable.
