THE COMMITTEE ON

INVITATIONS AND MEMORIAL RESOLUTIONS

To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (H. 4463), requesting the Department of Transportation to name the Conway Bypass the "Veterans Highway", etc., respectfully

REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same, and recommend that the same do pass:

RONALD N. FLEMING, for Committee.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO NAME THE CONWAY BYPASS THE "VETERANS HIGHWAY" AND TO NAME SEPARATE INTERCHANGES ON THAT BYPASS TO HONOR RECIPIENTS OF THE MEDAL OF HONOR FROM EACH BRANCH OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES.

Whereas, the Conway Bypass, a massive and much-needed infrastructure project improving highway access to the Grand Strand, is an ideal project to honor the service of South Carolina's and the entire nation's veterans; and

Whereas, in honoring all those who have served in the nation's Armed Forces, it is appropriate to pay a special tribute to those whose courage and valor earned for them the Medal of Honor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina request the Department of Transportation to name the Conway Bypass the "Veterans Highway" and at specific and separate interchanges along the bypass to honor the recipients of the Medal of Honor from each branch of the Armed Forces of the United States and to erect appropriate signs or markers to implement these designations.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
