A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO PROVIDE THAT THE SCHOOL DAY MISSED ON JANUARY 19, 2000, BY THE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS OF GETTYS MIDDLE SCHOOL IN THE PICKENS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT DURING SCHOOL YEAR 1999-2000 WHEN THE SCHOOL WAS CLOSED DUE TO A BROKEN WATER MAIN IS EXEMPTED FROM THE MAKE-UP REQUIREMENT OF THE DEFINED MINIMUM PLAN THAT FULL SCHOOL DAYS MISSED DUE TO EXTREME WEATHER OR OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES BE MADE UP.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The school day missed on January 19, 2000, by the students and teachers of Gettys Middle School in the Pickens County School District during school year 1999-2000 when the school was closed due to a broken water main is exempted from the make-up requirement of the defined minimum plan that full school days missed due to extreme weather or other circumstances be made up.

SECTION 2. The Board of Trustees of the Pickens county School District may choose not to be exempted from the make-up requirement for the students and teachers of Gettys Middle School provided in SECTION 1 upon an affirmative vote of the Board.

SECTION 3. This Joint Resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
