A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO PROVIDE THAT SCHOOL DAYS MISSED ON JANUARY 24 AND 25, 2000, BY THE STUDENTS OF THE CHEROKEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT WHEN THE SCHOOLS WERE CLOSED DUE TO ICE AND WEATHER CONDITIONS AND THE SCHOOL DAY OF JANUARY 26, 2000, BY THE STUDENTS OF ALMA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN CHEROKEE COUNTY DUE TO A LACK OF ELECTRICITY FOR SCHOOL YEAR 1999-2000 ARE EXEMPTED FROM THE MAKE-UP REQUIREMENT OF THE DEFINED MINIMUM PLAN THAT FULL SCHOOL DAYS MISSED DUE TO EXTREME WEATHER OR OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES BE MADE UP.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, school days missed on January 24 and 25, 2000, by the students of the Cherokee County School District for school year 1999-2000 when the schools were closed due to ice and weather conditions and the school day of January 26, 2000, by the students of Alma Elementary School in Cherokee County due to a lack of electricity are exempted from the make-up requirement of the defined minimum plan that full school days missed due to extreme weather or other circumstances be made up.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
