TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION, RELATING TO NONEMERGENCY VEHICLES, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2439, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Public Service Commission, relating to nonemergency vehicles, designated as Regulation Document Number 2439, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
This regulation amends the terms nonemergency vehicle, wheelchair van, wheelchair van patient, and Federal Motor Carrier CSA Safety Regulations; to classify nonemergency vehicles as Class "C" motor carriers; and to outline the requirements for applicants who wish to obtain a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for nonemergency vehicles. The amendments also address driver qualifications, vehicle requirements, vehicle maintenance requirements, drug testing requirements, minimum periodic inspection standards, and minimum insurance limits.
