A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 2-17-22 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION FROM EMPLOYING OR PAYING A LOBBYIST TO REPRESENT IT IN THIS STATE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 2-17-22. A nonprofit organization, as defined in Section 12-21-3920(5), may not employ or pay a lobbyist to represent it in this State."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
