A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE KIFFEN R. NANNEY OF LANDRUM IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Kiffen R. Nanney of Landrum in Spartanburg County; and

Whereas, he was strong in his faith and a devoted member of and worker in his church, the Gowensville Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the Building Committee, as member of the Constitution and By-Laws Committee, and various other committees over the years; and

Whereas, as evidence to his devotion to his native State, he served with distinction on the South Carolina Judicial Grievance and Discipline Commission at the appointment of Governor James B. Whereas, in his personal life he was the devoted husband of Shirley Ann Smith whom he married in 1959, and the father of two greatly beloved daughters, Andrea L. Nanney and Jennifer A. Nanney Tallow, and by his many acts of kindness, caring spirit, and compassion, he made himself a strong pillar of assistance to numerous members of his community; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations so that they might reflect on the life of so distinguished a son of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, express their sympathy to the family and many friends of the late Kiffen R. Nanney of Landrum in Spartanburg County.
