TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THOMAS HAMILTON COURTNEY OF HOLLYWOOD FOR HIS DEDICATION TO SCOUTING AND HIS ACHIEVING THE HIGHEST HONOR IN SCOUTING, THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the Senate applaud Thomas Hamilton Courtney for his admirable accomplishment of achieving the rank of Eagle Scout; and
Whereas, Thomas Courtney is a member of Boy Scout Troop 60 and embodies the words of the Scout Law. Thomas is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent; and
Whereas, to receive an Eagle Scout Award, a scout must first matriculate through earlier ranks, earn merit badges in a variety of disciplines, perform community service projects, and display those personal characteristics that honor the tradition of scouting worldwide; and
Whereas, Thomas Hamilton Courtney will be honored with his Eagle Scout Award at Church Creek Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 15, 2002; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations so that they might recognize and honor this outstanding young man. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate Thomas Hamilton Courtney of Hollywood for his dedication to scouting and his achieving the highest honor in scouting, the Eagle Scout Award, and wish him much success in his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Thomas Hamilton Courtney of Hollywood.
