A BILL

TO AMEND CHAPTER 2, TITLE 22, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 22-2-13, RELATING TO THE SELECTION OF MAGISTRATES, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT NO MEMBER OF THE SENATE WHO PRACTICES LAW BEFORE A MAGISTRATE MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE SELECTION OF MAGISTRATES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 22-2-13. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, after the effective date of this section, no member of the Senate who practices law in the magistrates court may participate in the selection of magistrates."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
