A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO NAME THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS CENTER AND PATROL OFFICE IN CONWAY, SOUTH CAROLINA ON U.S. HIGHWAY 701 NORTH IN MEMORY OF SERGEANT MAURO ANDREUCCI OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY PATROL, AND TO REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT TO ERECT APPROPRIATE SIGNS AND MARKERS REFLECTING THIS DESIGNATION.

Whereas, Sergeant Mauro Andreucci of Conway, South Carolina was a 36-year veteran of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, having served as a public information officer for the Patrol's District 5 in the Pee Dee, and most recently as an administrative sergeant for Horry County; and

Whereas, his untimely death on Friday, April 2, 1999, following a heart attack at the age of 57, was a great loss for his family and friends, the people of Horry County, and all of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Sergeant Andreucci is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Andreucci of Conway; his son, Kelly Andreucci of Conway; and his daughter, Maura Kristin Andreucci of Mount Pleasant; and

Whereas, Sergeant Andreucci was described affectionately as a friend to his community and to all those around him, and is remembered for his compassion, good humor, and happiness; and

Whereas, throughout his career, which began in 1963 when the Patrol was a part of the South Carolina Highway Department, Sergeant Andreucci embodied the Patrol's motto of "Courtesy, efficiency and service," and was in every aspect a model trooper; and

Whereas, Sergeant Andreucci was active in his church and community as a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church, as past president and a 14-year member of the Conway Booster Club, as a past member of the Conway Kiwinis Club, as a past member of the Conway Primary School Advisory Council, as a Master Mason, and as a volunteer for the Conway Chamber of Commerce. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That it is appropriate that the General Assembly request the Department of Public Safety to name the Telecommunications Center and Highway Patrol Office in Conway, South Carolina on U.S. Highway 701 North in memory of Sergeant Mauro Andreucci of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and to request the department to erect appropriate signs and markers reflecting this designation.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Sergeant Mauro Andreucci and the Department of Public Safety.
