A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE DR. JOSEPH H. MILLER OF RICHLAND COUNTY ON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER MORE THAN THIRTY-SIX YEARS OF DEVOTED SERVICE AS A PRACTICING PARTNER WITH COLUMBIA UROLOGICAL ASSOCIATES, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM FOR A HEALTHY AND FRUITFUL RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Dr. Joseph H. Miller was born on October 17, 1930, in Charleston, South Carolina, and was reared in the Shandon Community of Richland County; and

Whereas, he is married to Margaret Myers Miller, and together they are the proud parents of a son and a daughter; and

Whereas, Dr. Miller received his Bachelor of Science degree from Davidson College in 1952, and his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in 1956; and

Whereas, he completed his Internship and Surgery Residency at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, and his Residency in Urology at Boston City Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts; and

Whereas, Dr. Miller joined the physicians of Columbia Urological Associates in 1964, and has been a practicing partner since then; and

Whereas, he was certified by the American Board of Urology in 1968; and

Whereas, Dr. Miller is a member of the American Urological Association, the Southeastern Section of the American Urological Association, the American Medical Association, the South Carolina Medical Association, the South Carolina Urological Association, the Columbia Medical Society, and the Columbia Medical Journal Club; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly note that Dr. Miller is retiring after more than thirty-six years of devoted service as a physician with Columbia Urological Associates; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations to honor this distinguished son of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Joseph H. Miller of Richland County on the occasion of his retirement from Columbia Urological Associates, and extend best wishes to him for a healthy and fruitful retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Joseph H. Miller.
