TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 40-21-215 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A LAND SURVEYOR PERFORMING A SURVEY ON A PIECE OR PARCEL OF PROPERTY SHALL NOTIFY ALL ADJOINING LANDOWNERS IN WRITING BEFORE THE SURVEY IS COMPLETED OR RECORDED OF ANY CHANGES IN THE METES AND BOUNDS OF THE PROPERTY BEING SURVEYED WHICH ALSO WOULD EFFECT THE METES AND BOUNDS OF THE ADJOINING LANDOWNER.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 40-21-215. A land surveyor performing a survey on a piece or parcel of property shall notify all adjoining landowners in writing before the survey is completed or recorded of any changes in the metes and bounds of the property being surveyed which also would effect the metes and bounds of the adjoining landowner. The notice must include a copy of the proposed plat with the changes enumerated thereon."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
