A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF WOODROW AVINS OF SUMTER AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives express heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Woodrow Avins, of Sumter, who died Monday, January 29, 2001; and

Whereas, Woodrow Avins began WDW Properties and Construction Company where he worked for twenty-five years building homes and commercial projects. He had acquired many satisfied customers over the years with his fair and honest dealings and his dedication to his work; and

Whereas, Woodrow Avins' main priorities in life were his family and his church, Calvary Nazarene. He did missionary work with Calvary Nazarene Church building churches and missions in foreign countries; and

Whereas, Woodrow Avins also enjoyed many outdoor activities including scuba diving, snow skiing, and hiking; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives express sympathy to Woodrow Avins' surviving family members: his wife, Betty Williams Avins; his sons, Woody and Daren; his mother, Alpha Emma Griffin Avins Boyce; four brothers and one sister; and four grandchildren. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Woodrow Avins of Sumter and extend deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Woodrow Avins.
