Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-63-75. (A) When law enforcement authorities are summoned to a school to investigate or respond to reports of criminal activity where students are potential victims of the criminal activity subjecting them to possible serious bodily injury or death, school officials must notify the public and the parents or guardians of the students involved, through appropriate media outlets, of this situation within thirty minutes of summoning law enforcement authorities. (B) Where written communications are regularly made by a school to parents through such devices as newsletters, a report of the incident also must be included in the next edition following the incident."
