A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE MEMBERS OF THE BYRNES ACADEMY VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM OF FLORENCE WHO WON THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO WISH THEM MUCH SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly applaud the members of the Byrnes Academy Varsity Football Team for winning the South Carolina Independent School Association Class AA State Championship; and

Whereas, Byrnes Academy who was ranked number one in the South Carolina Independent School Association playoffs triumphed over Williamsburg Academy 19-7 in the championship football game in Dalzell; and

Whereas, in the winning game the Trojans were able to complete a play they had never been able to execute in a game, the "last play" scenario, which is intended to produce a last minute score. On the second attempt at the play the offense was successful and ended the first half with a score of 19-0; and

Whereas, the team was turned around by its coach, Casey Thiele, a few years ago when he answered an ad to become head football coach. The Trojans in just a few years went from a 0-10 season to winning the South Carolina Independent School Association State Championship; and

Whereas, the members of the winning Byrnes Varsity Football Team are Nick Brown, Clay Muench, Baker Milligan, Corey Phillips, Ryan White, Rush Lowther, Ryan James, Ashlan Duffey, John Holder, Wesley Byrd, Fields Norwood, Perry Floyd, Chris Moore, Garrick Klaybor, Paul Harden, Dow Lowther, Paul James, Chase Payne, Will Altman, Daniel Harden, Coby DuBose, Kipp Stone, and Blake Adams. The Trojans coach, Casey Thiele, is assisted by Todd Hazlett, Bill McCracken, Gene Stokes, and Gary James; and

Whereas, the General Assembly praises the Byrnes Academy Varsity Football Team for their celebrated victory over Williamsburg Academy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the members of the Byrnes Academy Varsity Football Team of Florence who won the South Carolina Independent School Association Class AA State Championship and wish them much success in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Byrnes Academy South Carolina Independent Schools Association AA State Championship Varsity Football Team.
