A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE FLORENCE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are very pleased to learn that the Florence Christian School boys basketball team recently won the South Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA State Championship by defeating a fine Hammond School team of Columbia 47-42; and

Whereas, this championship marks the first state championship for the Florence Christian Eagles since 1997, and this outstanding group of athletes accumulated a 28-2 won-loss record during the 2000-01 season including a perfect 14-0 record in their region; and

Whereas, under the able leadership of Head Coach Brad Bochette and Assistant Coach John Brown as well as a dedicated support staff, the Eagles performed at a remarkable level of ability this season in this tough classification and as a result of their talent, determination, and unity were able to achieve a remarkable record which culminated in the state championship; and

Whereas, the members of the 2000-01 Florence Christian School Eagles' team were Bob Richey, Jay Waring, Ryan Huntley, Jacob Poole, Lance Evans, John Clark, Hart Davidson, Daniel Jones, Keith Barnes, and Caleb Staggs; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this fine team, their coaches, and staff upon winning this truly deserved state championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives congratulate the Florence Christian School boys basketball team for winning the South Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA State Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Bochette of Florence Christian School.
