A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE EMERGENCY SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS IN AIKEN AND BARNWELL COUNTIES, THE SOUTH CAROLINA EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS DIVISION, AND THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY-SAVANNAH RIVER SITE FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING EFFORTS AND COOPERATION IN PROVIDING EMERGENCY SERVICES TO THE CITIZENS OF AIKEN AND BARNWELL COUNTIES.

Whereas, before there was multi-jurisdictional emergency planning between Aiken and Barnwell Counties, the emergency service agencies provided service to their respective communities; and

Whereas, for generations the local communities have furnished personnel and equipment and have shared generously their resources in suppressing fires and rendering first aid; and

Whereas, the emergency responders of Aiken and Barnwell Counties feel a special closeness and friendship to the members of each others' agencies as well as to South Carolina Emergency Preparedness Division and the Department of Energy-Savannah River Site; and

Whereas, a joint Aiken-Barnwell County Emergency Preparedness Program (ABTEPP) exercise on March 10, 2001, further refined this state of mutual aid and cooperation; and

Whereas, it is the desire of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, to publicly thank and commend the emergency service providers in Aiken and Barnwell Counties, the South Carolina Emergency Preparedness Division, and the Department of Energy-Savannah River Site for their years of dedicated and faithful service in providing mutual aid and helping render aid in their communities. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives commend the emergency service organizations in Aiken and Barnwell Counties, the South Carolina Emergency Preparedness Division, and the Department of Energy-Savannah River Site for their outstanding efforts and cooperation in providing emergency services to the citizens of Aiken and Barnwell Counties.
