TO COMMEND JAMES R. BETHUNE, SR., FOR HIS LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE ORANGEBURG AREA DEVELOPMENT CENTER, A CIVIC AND SERVICE ORGANIZATION, AND FOR HIS MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY AND ITS CITIZENS.
Whereas, James R. Bethune, Sr., is a native of Manning. He attended the University of South Carolina and graduated from Palmetto Military Academy, receiving his commission as Second Lieutenant. While serving in the United States Army Reserve, he attained the rank of Captain; and
Whereas, Mr. Bethune and his wife, Dorothy, have four children, Wanda Taylor, Brenda Rikard, Jamey Crumpton, and James, Jr.; and
Whereas, Mr. Bethune served as chairman of the Orangeburg Area Development Commission for a number of years where he contributed significant time, resources, and financial support to the commission's numerous programs; and
Whereas, Mr. Bethune's generous contributions as a community ambassador of good will have made the Orangeburg community a better place in which to live. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, commend James R. Bethune, Sr., for his loyal and dedicated service to the Orangeburg Area Development Center, a civic and service organization, and for his many contributions to the community and its citizens.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to James R. Bethune, Sr.
