TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE COACHES AND MEMBERS OF THE RICHLAND NORTHEAST GIRLS SOCCER TEAM OF COLUMBIA UPON WINNING THE CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE FRIDAY, MAY 11, 2001, AND WISH THEM MUCH ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina applaud the coaches and young ladies of the Richland Northeast High School Girls Soccer Team on a remarkable victory over Hillcrest High School Friday, May 11, 2001; and
Whereas, this talented and triumphant team was led to victory by Coach James Raymond and Assistant Coach Jim McNeish; and
Whereas, the Richland Northeast Cavaliers had a winning season with a record of twenty-one wins and five losses. The team triumphed over Summerville High School with a score of one to zero in the Lower State Championship game, Tuesday, May 8, 2001, taking them to the AAAA State Championship Game; and
Whereas, the Lady Cavalier soccer team played with finesse and determination throughout the season and especially in the Championship game; and
Whereas, Hillcrest dominated the first half of the Championship game, but never scored. When Richland Northeast junior Stacy Simpson made the first goal of the game at the end of the first half, the Cavaliers regained their confidence and controlled the second half with a game-securing second goal by junior Bryn Post; and
Whereas, the General Assembly sincerely congratulates the coaches and members of the Richland Northeast High School Class AAAA State Championship Girls Soccer Team on their outstanding season and spectacular Championship win. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the coaches and members of the Richland Northeast High School Girls Soccer Team of Columbia upon winning the Class AAAA State Championship Title Friday, May 11, 2001, and wish them much athletic and academic success in the future.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Richland Northeast High School in Columbia.
