A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MR. ROBERT SHAW EVANS OF ORANGEBURG FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATION AND SERVICE TO HIS FELLOW MAN THROUGH HIS WORK WITH THE ORANGEBURG AREA DEVELOPMENT CENTER, HIS COMMUNITY, AND THIS STATE.

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly wishes to thank Mr. Robert Shaw Evans for his service as a model citizen and leader who has worked with due diligence to improve the lives of people in his community and the entire County of Orangeburg; and

Whereas, he is a native of Orangeburg and is the son of the late John Gary Evans, Sr., and Florence Frederick Evans; and

Whereas, Mr. Evans is married to the former Beatrice Singleton of Florence and they are the proud and loving parents of three sons, Robert Shaw II, Frederick Marshall Gary, and James Malcolm; and

Whereas, he served as the Treasurer of the Orangeburg Area Development Commission for more than 25 years; and

Whereas, Mr. Evans consistently has been the positive influence in the development of many young men and women who have been touched by his leadership and devotion; and

Whereas, Mr. Robert Evans' contributions to the many civic and service organizations have helped to make his community a better place in which to live; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is pleased to express its gratitude to Mr. Robert Shaw Evans for his work and service to those around him, and the members take great pride in recognizing Mr. Evans as one of the Palmetto State's favorite sons. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and commend Mr. Robert Shaw Evans of Orangeburg for his many years of dedication and service to his fellow man through his work for the Orangeburg Area Development Center, his community, and this State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Robert Shaw Evans of Orangeburg County.
