A HOUSE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING TAMMY SMITH, EIGHTH GRADE TEACHER, ON THE HONOR OF BEING SELECTED TEACHER OF THE YEAR AT LANGLEY-BATH-CLEARWATER MIDDLE SCHOOL IN AIKEN COUNTY, AND ENCOURAGING HER TO CONTINUE HER TIRELESS DEDICATION AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO HER STUDENTS AND HER SCHOOL.

Whereas, Tammy Smith has been voted "Teacher of the Year" at Langley-Bath-Clearwater Middle School for 2000-2001; and

Whereas, the eighth grade teacher's dedication to the academic pursuits of both her students and herself are without peer at her school; and

Whereas, she is continually reaching for higher standards of accomplishment for both her students and herself; and

Whereas, the tireless teacher is both firm and flexible in her classroom and her extracurricular activities; and

Whereas, she serves as Eighth Grade Team Leader, Eighth Grade Discipline Team Leader, Student Council sponsor, and member of the Miss LBC Pageant Committee, as well as jumping in to volunteer on an ad hoc basis for fundraisers, assemblies, and special programs; and

Whereas, Tammy has been recognized as a recipient of the High Flyer Award and has had the honor of teaching the winner among the ten thousand entrants in the Respect Teen Contest; and

Whereas, the Teacher of the Year also is a certified judge in the South Carolina Junior Olympic Boxing Program. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, one of whom is her proud father-in-law, Representative J. Roland Smith, do hereby recognize Tammy Smith, eighth grade teacher, on the honor of being selected Teacher of the Year at Langley-Bath-Clearwater Middle School in Aiken County, and encourage her to continue her tireless dedication and contributions to her students and her school.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Smith.
