A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE CATHERINE LOUISE BRIGHT BODISON OF WALTERBORO ON HER UPCOMING SEVENTY-FIFTH BIRTHDAY, AND TO COMMEND THIS DISTINGUISHED DAUGHTER OF THE PALMETTO STATE WHOSE LIFE WORK AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION SPEAK HIGHLY OF HER CHARACTER AND DEDICATION TO THE PEOPLE OF HER COMMUNITY AND OUR STATE.

Whereas, Catherine Louise Bright Bodison, a native of Colleton County, is the daughter of the late Isaac and Irene Siders Bright. She was born on June 30, 1926, and married the late McKither Bodison of Walterboro. They had four children, Jacqueline Graham, Cathy Gaston, McKither, and Isaac, who have given her five loving grandchildren; and

Whereas, Mrs. Bodison graduated with honors from Colleton Training High School, earned her bachelors degree in science with honors at Allen University in Columbia, and continued her education by earning a masters in education degree from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg. She has done further study at Atlanta University, Clemson University, and the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Mrs. Bodison retired after forty-two years of teaching and school administration. She taught at Colleton Elementary School, Neyles Elementary School, and the Beaufort County Training High School. She served as the assistant principal of Beaufort County Training High School and the principal of Neyles Elementary School. In her retirement, Mrs. Bodison is a GED teacher for the Colleton County School District; and

Whereas, as an active member of Isaiah United Methodist Church, Mrs. Bodison has been a Sunday school teacher, the church's financial secretary, member of the senior choir, and a certified lay speaker; and

Whereas, Mrs. Bodison is an active member of her community in many volunteer capacities, including serving on the library board, the city zoning board of appeals, and the county education association; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is honored to recognize this distinguished lady who deserves the gratitude of her community and the State for her life-long dedication to education and public service. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Catherine Louise Bright Bodison of Walterboro on her upcoming seventy-fifth birthday, and commend this distinguished daughter of the Palmetto State whose life work and accomplishments in the field of education speak highly of her character and dedication to the people of her community and our State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Catherine Louise Bright Bodison.
