EXPRESSING SORROW REGARDING THE DEATH OF EDWIN C. CUTTINO OF SUMTER COUNTY, AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Edwin C. "Ed" Cuttino of Sumter County died December 29, 2001, at the age of eighty-one; and
Whereas, Mr. Cuttino was a highly regarded community volunteer and respected businessman; and
Whereas, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sumter and graduated from Washington and Lee University where he was captain of the basketball team and a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity; and
Whereas, Mr. Cuttino was a member of the Godfather's Group for many years and was a World War II Navy veteran; and
Whereas, he founded the General Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1957, which merged with the Sumter Insurance Group in 1993; and
Whereas, he was elected to the Sumter Sports Hall of Fame in 1985; and
Whereas, Ed Cuttino was a vibrant and valuable member of the community and provided dedicated service to his fellow Sumter residents; he was widely admired and was known for treating everyone as equals, and he will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses deepest sorrow regarding the death of Edwin C. Cuttino of Sumter County and extends sincerest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Cuttino.
