A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING AND SALUTING THE BULLDOGS FOOTBALL TEAM OF SILVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL OF AIKEN COUNTY ON WINNING ITS SECOND CONSECUTIVE CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ON DECEMBER 1, 2001.

Whereas, the Bulldogs of Silver Bluff High School of Aiken County captured their second straight Class AA State Championship in football on December 1, 2001 when they defeated Batesburg-Leesville High School by a score of 21-20; and

Whereas, Silver Bluff High has won thirty consecutive football games - the longest winning streak in the history of Class AA football in South Carolina and has won forty-three of its last forty-four games, an amazing streak of success; and

Whereas, the Bulldogs clearly have one of the most successful prep football programs in the Palmetto State; and

Whereas, led by Head Coach Al Lown, the Bulldogs exhibited remarkable talent, tenacity, hard work, and unity during the 2001 season, capping the campaign with an undefeated season and a state crown; and

Whereas, we are delighted to have the opportunity to recognize the Silver Bluff football team for its marvelous accomplishments. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates and salutes the Bulldogs football team of Silver Bluff High School of Aiken County on winning its second consecutive Class AA State Championship on December 1, 2001.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Silver Bluff High School football team, in care of Head Coach Al Lown.
