A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING SINCEREST SORROW AT THE DEATH OF DR. MACY R. GASQUE OF THE GRESHAM COMMUNITY OF MARION COUNTY, AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, Dr. Macy R. Gasque of the Gresham community of Marion County died December 30, 2001, at the age of eighty-four; and

Whereas, Dr. Gasque was employed by Seaboard Railroad (which became Seaboard Coastline) for over fifty-five years; and

Whereas, he received countless awards and recognition, including an honorary doctorate of humanities, Woodman's of America, and numerous citations, plaques, and awards from the railroad, church, community, and the Masonic Lodge Number 271; and

Whereas, he was a devoted and active church member at White Hill Missionary Baptist Church and served the church for more than forty years as head deacon, Adult Class teacher, and nearly fifty years as treasurer; and

Whereas, Dr. Gasque was a beloved humanitarian and an outstanding individual who meant much to his community, and he will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sincerest sorrow at the death of Dr. Macy R. Gasque of the Gresham community of Marion County, and extends deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Gasque's family.
