TO EXPRESS THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO MR. ELMER BROWN, JR., ON HIS INDUCTION INTO THE PIEDMONT ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION HALL OF FAME'S RING OF HONOR, AND TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MORE THAN FORTY YEARS OF SELFLESS SERVICE TO PIEDMONT AREA LITTLE LEAGUE ATHLETICS.
Whereas, Elmer Brown, Jr., is a lifelong resident of the Piedmont who has been coaching little league sports for more than forty years; and
Whereas, in this capacity Coach Brown has touched the lives of hundreds of little boys and young men, instilling in them not only a love for the game itself, but also such virtues as honesty, patience, determination, and sportsmanship; and
Whereas, high school coaches across the Piedmont were always pleased to pick up Coach Brown's former players, because they knew these young men would have an innate grasp of the game's fundamentals as well as the work ethic to achieve even higher levels of athletic success; and
Whereas, Coach Brown's teams from 1962 through 2001 were perennial power houses, including numerous City and League Championships, and earning Coach Brown the 1999 Sigma Gamma Rho Community Service Award; and
Whereas, in recognition of his tireless service to the youth of Greenville and Spartanburg counties, Elmer Brown, Jr., will be inducted into the Piedmont Athletic Association Hall of Fame's Ring of Honor on February 16, 2002; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the House of Representatives to pause in their deliberations so that they may congratulate so distinguished a son of South Carolina on the occasion of his special recognition and express their appreciation for his commitment to improving the lives of others through athletics. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, express their congratulations to Mr. Elmer Brown, Jr., on his induction into the Piedmont Athletic Association Hall of Fame's Ring of Honor, and to commend him for his more than forty years of selfless service to Piedmont area Little League athletics.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Elmer Brown, Jr.
