A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CELEBRATE THE REMARKABLE LIFE OF MRS. MILDRED HENDERSON LINDSAY OF LAURENS ON THE JOYOUS OCCASION OF HER EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER MANY MORE YEARS OF HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, Mrs. Mildred Henderson Lindsay was born on March 13, 1922, and will celebrate her eightieth birthday at a gathering of her family, friends, and loved ones on March 16, 2002; and

Whereas, Mildred Henderson Lindsay was born in Laurens County to the late George and Mary Nancy Spearman Henderson, along with her six sisters and a brother; and

Whereas, Mrs. Lindsay was married to the late Erskine Lindsay, Sr., and during their wonderful marriage, they became the proud and loving parents of five children: Ernestine Lindsay Dunbar, Erskine M. Lindsay, Jr., George R. Lindsay, Janet Lindsay Williams, and Bernard Lindsay; and

Whereas, Mildred Lindsay now has twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren whom she loves and cares for very much; and

Whereas, Mrs. Lindsay is a faithful member of New Hope A.M.E. Church in Mountville, South Carolina, where she dutifully serves the Lord and the church through her work on the Stewardship Board and as a class leader; and

Whereas, Mildred Lindsay is known for her love of helping others, her enjoyment of travel, and her fondness for spending time with friends; she has put her time and talents to work as a missionary, a member of the Christian Hope Society, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Ruth Chapter of the Eastern Star; and

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is happy to recognize the long and fruitful life of Mrs. Mildred Lindsay on such a special occasion, and it is the hope of the members that the Lord will continue to bless and keep this truly wonderful lady for many years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, celebrate the remarkable life of Mrs. Mildred Henderson Lindsay of Laurens County on the joyous occasion of her eightieth birthday and wish her many more years of health and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Mildred Henderson Lindsay of Laurens County.
