EXTENDING GREETINGS AND A WARM WELCOME FROM THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE JOINT ANNUAL MEETING OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE, BETA KAPPA CHI SCIENTIFIC HONOR SOCIETY, AND BROOKHAVEN SEMESTER PROGRAM AT BENEDICT COLLEGE AS HOST INSTITUTION AT THE ADAMS MARK HOTEL, MARCH 27-31, 2002.
Whereas, the 59th Joint Annual Meeting of the National Institute of Science, Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society, and the Brookhaven Semester Program will be held at the Adams Mark Hotel, with Benedict College of Columbia as host institution March 27-31, 2002; and
Whereas, the joint annual meeting is designed to encourage and promote scholarly activity and a community of learners; and
Whereas, Benedict College and the capital city of the State of South Carolina are honored and proud to be hosting the joint annual meeting; undergraduate science students and faculty advisors from over sixty historically Black colleges and universities throughout the United States are expected to participate along with a number of graduate students; and
Whereas, in addition to the expected high quality of scientific presentations by the college students, the joint annual meeting will include a series of hands-on workshops, keynote speakers, and private institutions; the National Institute of Science will also sponsor a High School Science Enrichment Day and Awards Luncheon to be attended by highly motivated high school students from all over South Carolina and surrounding states; and
Whereas, we are delighted that the joint annual meeting will be in South Carolina and look forward to the meeting's success. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extends hearty greetings and a very warm welcome from the State of South Carolina to the Joint Annual Meeting of the National Institute of Science, Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society, and the Brookhaven Semester Program at Benedict College as host institution at the Adams Mark Hotel in Columbia, March 27-31, 2002.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Larry L. Lowe at Benedict College, 1600 Harden Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29204.
