A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND CHARLES W. "WOODY" HAYNES FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE PALMETTO STATE THROUGH HIS WORK WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA FORESTRY COMMISSION AND TO WISH HIM MANY MORE YEARS OF HEALTH AND HAPPINESS UPON HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Charles W. "Woody" Haynes officially retired from the South Carolina Forestry Commission on March 1, 2002, after an extensive career of dedicated service; and

Whereas, Mr. Haynes, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management from the University of Florida, was originally hired by the South Carolina Forestry Commission on July 1, 1957, as a forester for Orangeburg; and

Whereas, Mr. Haynes was granted military leave from the Forestry Commission from July 8, 1958 to July 10, 1961, during which time he honorably and proudly served his country; and

Whereas, Mr. Haynes, upon his return from military leave in 1961, worked as a forester for Spartanburg, Anderson, and Greenville; and

Whereas, Mr. Haynes desired to preserve and protect the vast and magnificent forests of the Palmetto State, working as a project forester in Manning, until his well-earned retirement in March of 2002; and

Whereas, it is appropriate that the South Carolina House of Representatives takes this opportunity to thank Charles "Woody" Haynes for his efforts to help manage forests throughout this State during his many years of employment with the South Carolina Forestry Commission. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Charles W. "Woody" Haynes for his many years of service to the Palmetto State through his work with the South Carolina Forestry Commission and wish him many more years of health and happiness upon his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Charles W. Haynes.
