A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-1-132 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT BEFORE A PERSON WHOSE DRIVER'S LICENSE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED MAY HAVE HIS DRIVER'S LICENSE REINSTATED, HE MUST COMPLETE BOTH THE WRITTEN AND DRIVING PORTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY'S DRIVER'S LICENSE EXAMINATION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 56-1-132. Notwithstanding another provision of law, before a person whose driver's license has been suspended may have his driver's license reinstated, he must complete both the written and driving portions of the Department of Public Safety's driver's license examination."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
