EXPRESSING THE SENSE OF THE HOUSE FOR HOUSE CONFEREES APPOINTED TO THE CONFERENCE COMMITTEE ON H. 4878, THE GENERAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT FOR FISCAL YEAR 2002-2003, TO STAND FIRM IN OPPOSITION TO THE INCREASE IN THE CONCEALED WEAPON PERMIT APPLICATION FEE FROM FIFTY TO ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS CONTAINED IN THE SENATE-PASSED VERSION OF THE BILL.
Whereas, Section 23-31-215(6) of the 1976 Code establishes a fifty dollar application fee for a concealed weapon permit valid for four years; and
Whereas, in its consideration of H. 4878, the general appropriations act for fiscal year 2002-2003, the Senate added in Part IB, Section 56DD, a new paragraph 56DD.44 doubling the concealed weapon permit application fee from fifty to one hundred dollars; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives strenuously object to this fee increase. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That, by this resolution, the members of the House of Representatives express the sense of the House for House Conferees appointed to the Conference Committee on H. 4878, the general appropriations act for fiscal year 2002-2003, to stand firm in opposition to the increase in the concealed weapon permit application fee from fifty to one hundred dollars contained in the Senate-passed version of the bill.
