TO RECOGNIZE THE GREENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL WARRIORS ON THEIR 20-1 BOYS' SOCCER SEASON AND THEIR FIRST-EVER CLASS AAA BOYS' SOCCER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the Greenville High School Warriors cruised to a 20-1 season record in boys' soccer in Coach Warren Turner's first year at their helm; and
Whereas, that performance earned them a slot in the state Class AAA Championship playoffs and culminated in a 6-0 routing of Brookland-Cayce for the title trophy; and
Whereas, the handwriting was on the locker room wall when the Greenville High team got a deflection early in the match, leading to a Thomas Price score on a Ryan Johnson pass only 54 seconds into the showdown; and
Whereas, Joseph Gruneweld added two more goals and Jay Bracknell finished the first-half scoring with the team's fourth goal; and
Whereas, the two second-half scores by Jay Orders iced the championship cake; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are proud to honor the achievements of this state's young citizens. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives recognize the Greenville High School Warriors on their 20-1 boys' soccer season and their first-ever Class AAA boys' soccer state championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Turner.
