AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 779 OF 1988, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO LAURENS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICTS 55 AND 56 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT ELECTION RESULTS MUST BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NONPARTISAN ELECTION AND RUNOFF METHOD RATHER THAN THE NONPARTISAN PLURALITY METHOD.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Determination of final election results
SECTION 1. Section 1(E) of Act 779 of 1988, as last amended by Act 174 of 1995, is further amended to read:
"(E) Beginning with the 2003 elections, the result of the election must be determined in accordance with the nonpartisan election and runoff method prescribed by Section 5-15-62 of the 1976 Code."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
Ratified the 4th day of June, 2002.
Approved the 10th day of September, 2002.
