A HOUSE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING HEAD COACH ROBBIE HUNTER AND THE REGION 3-AAAA CHAMPIONSHIP LEXINGTON HIGH SCHOOL WILDCATS ON THEIR SHUTOUT OF THE REGION 4-AAAA CHAMPS, THE RICHLAND NORTHEAST CAVALIERS, TO TAKE THE 2002 STATE BOYS' AAAA TENNIS TITLE, AND TO WISH THEM WELL AS THEY LOOK TO BUILD ON THAT FIRST-EVER CROWN IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the Lexington High School boys' tennis team took the 2002 state tennis title May 5, in Class AAAA; and

Whereas, the championship match-up pitted the Region 3-AAAA champion Lexington Wildcats in a rematch against the Region 4-AAAA champion Cavaliers from Richland Northeast; and

Whereas, the Wildcats bettered their earlier 5-1 effort at the Seahawk Challenge in Hilton Head by blanking the Cavaliers 6-0 and winning every match in straight sets; and

Whereas, the impressive effort by the tennis twelve of Lexington capped a 21-1 season and gave the program its first-ever state tennis crown; and

Whereas, seniors Mike Caldwell and Manning Crapps who grabbed the trophy in post tournament ceremonies, will be lost to next year's team, six of the seven Wildcats starters will be back next season; and

Whereas, Coach Robbie Hunter is already anticipating building on this championship season, the culmination of his eighteen years with the program; and

Whereas, the team roster includes, in addition to seniors Caldwell and Crapps, a strong nucleus for maintaining a strong program:

Wyatt Boylston, freshman; Ben Caldwell, Junior; Ben Davis, freshman; Walker Garrison, sophomore; Patrick Lide, sophomore; Michael Parks, eighth grade; Chris Peek, freshman; Reed Pimental, freshman; Jason Rogers, sophomore; and Ben Taylor, eighth grade. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House or Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Head Coach Robbie Hunter and the Region 3-AAAA Championship Lexington High School Wildcats on their shutout of the Region 4-AAAA Champs, the Richland Northeast Cavaliers, to take the 2002 state boys' AAAA tennis title, and to wish them well as they look to build on that first-ever crown in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head Coach Robbie Hunter and the Lexington High School Wildcats AAAA Championship tennis team.
