A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST GRATITUDE AND SINCERE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE BISHOPVILLE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES FOR THEIR PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE IN ADMINISTERING LIFE-SAVING ASSISTANCE TO REPRESENTATIVE DENNY NEILSON AT HER DEVASTATING ACCIDENT ON FEBRUARY 8, 2001.

Whereas, on February 8, 2001, Representative Denny Neilson was traveling on U.S. Highway 15 in rural Lee County when a tractor-trailer crossed the center line causing a horrific head-on collision with her vehicle; and

Whereas, upon arriving at the scene the Bishopville emergency medical technicians found Representative Neilson's car crushed in and around her and in this life-threatening situation, they promptly began intense efforts to provide every aspect of roadside emergency care possible and made a priority call to Richland Memorial Medivac where she was airlifted; and

Whereas, by rendering their professional, competent life-saving urgent care, they were able to help stabilize Representative Neilson for her rush to the hospital and the beginning of her long and arduous journey home; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize the Bishopville Emergency Medical Services and, along with Representative Neilson and her devoted family and many friends, to publicly thank them for their life-saving emergency care and to express great admiration for their outstanding medical competence and skill. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to the Bishopville Emergency Medical Services for their professional expertise in administering life-saving assistance to Representative Denny Neilson at her devastating accident on February 8, 2001.
