A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND HEARTIEST CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES TO MRS. LEASE MARIE STANYARD ASHE ON THE OCCASION OF HER NINETIETH BIRTHDAY.

Whereas, the members of the Senate are extremely pleased and proud to learn that Mrs. Lease Marie Stanyard Ashe will celebrate her ninetieth birthday on May 3, 2001; and

Whereas, this amazing and delightful lady was born on Yonges Island, South Carolina, to Morris and Ellen Jenkins; and

Whereas, Mrs. Ashe has been blessed with a large and wonderful family consisting of twelve children, fifty-six grandchildren, sixty-five great grandchildren, and thirty great-great grandchildren; and

Whereas, her devoted family together with her many friends will gather for a birthday banquet celebration on Saturday, May 5, 2001, at the Mt. Horr AME Church; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and extend their heartiest birthday greetings to this special lady as she enters her ninety-first year. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate hereby extend their heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Mrs. Lease Marie Stanyard Ashe on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Ashe.
