A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO ERECT APPROPRIATE SIGNS AT EXIT 221B ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 26 IN CHARLESTON COUNTY THAT CONTAIN THE WORDS "JOHNSON AND WALES UNIVERSITY" WHICH INDICATE THE DIRECTION TO THE UNIVERSITY, AND ERECT ADDITIONAL SIGNS TO DIRECT MOTORISTS TO THE UNIVERSITY FROM THIS EXIT.

Whereas, signs along interstate highways benefit motorists who are not familiar with the route or the area; and

Whereas, the City of Charleston is blessed with a number of institutions of higher learning which have benefited from the Department of Transportation's placement of signs along Interstate Highway 26 which direct motorists to their campuses; and

Whereas, there are no directional signs along Interstate Highway 26 which direct motorists to the campus of Johnson and Wales University; and

Whereas, the City of Charleston would benefit from the placement of signs along Interstate Highway 26 by the department at the exit which leads motorists to Johnson and Wales University. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, request that the Department of Transportation place signs that contain the words "Johnson and Wales University" at exit 221B along Interstate Highway 26 in Charleston County, and to erect additional signs to direct motorists to the university from this exit.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
