A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF DEBBIE ROGERS OF CHESTER COUNTY UPON HER DEATH AND EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the recent death of Debbie Rogers of Chester County after her battle with colon cancer over the past year; and

Whereas, Debbie Rogers led the Lewisville High School Lions to 10 state competitive cheering titles in 11 years and challenged these young women to strive for perfection not only in their cheering competitions, but also in every aspect of their lives; and

Whereas, Debbie Rogers set the standard for cheerleading in the state and provided endless inspiration to the young women she coached while guiding the young women to flawless competitions year after year; and

Whereas, in addition to her role as the Lions' cheerleading coach, she served as the treasurer of the South Carolina Cheerleaders Association and was a member of the South Carolina Coaches Association; and

Whereas, Debbie Rogers was a role model and mother-figure for a number of young women in the community; and

Whereas, Debbie Rogers was a mother, friend, teacher and loyal companion to many young women and she taught them pride, the importance of appearance, the need for prayer and God in their lives and the necessity for understanding self worth; and

Whereas, with the death of this dedicated and generous woman at the age of forty-seven, the students of Lewisville High School and her family and friends have lost an integral and much admired member of their community who will not be easily replaced; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the students of Lewisville High School, her children, Mary Katherine and Brad, and other family and friends upon their loss. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby express the deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of Debbie Rogers of Chester County, one of the most dedicated leaders in her community, upon her death.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Debbie Rogers.
