EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE PEE DEE ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, ITS MANAGEMENT AND MEMBERS ON THE DEDICATION OF THE PEE DEE TOUCHSTONE COMMERCE CITY ON OCTOBER 26, 2001, AND WISHING GREAT SUCCESS FOR THIS STATE-OF-THE-ART INDUSTRIAL PARK.
Whereas, after years of planning and months of construction, the Pee Dee Electric Cooperative will dedicate on October 26, 2001, the Pee Dee Touchstone Commerce City; and
Whereas, this state-of-the-art industrial park will be a magnet for high quality business and manufacturing facilities that will contribute mightily to economic development of the Pee Dee Region, bringing jobs directly to Commerce City tenants and spawning the additional jobs that such economic development stimulates; and
Whereas, dedication of Commerce City is the culmination of years of planning and support for the park by the Pee Dee Electric Cooperative's Board of Trustees and the Cooperative's member-owners; and
Whereas, this "home-grown" boon to economic development in the Pee Dee Region is yet another example of the perseverance and resourcefulness of the people of the Pee Dee in their determination to improve the quality of life of the region's residents; and
Whereas, in the words of Commerce City's organizers and promoters, "This Commerce City will be dedicated to the people and communities of the Pee Dee Region as their incubator for economic growth and prosperity"; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations so that they may recognize and honor the efforts of the Board of Trustees of the Pee Dee Electric Cooperative and the Cooperative's member-owners for their vision in seeing the project through to fruition. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That members of the Senate, by this resolution, express their congratulations to the Pee Dee Electric Cooperative, its management and members on the dedication of the Pee Dee Touchstone Commerce City on October 26, 2001, and wishing great success for this state-of-the-art industrial park.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Board of Trustees of the Pee Dee Electric Cooperative.
