TO CONGRATULATE AND EXTEND SINCERE BEST WISHES TO MR. VAN LEE ON THE OCCASION OF HIS 100TH BIRTHDAY.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are very pleased to learn that Mr. Van Lee of Kingstree, South Carolina celebrated his 100th birthday on February 1, 2002; and
Whereas, Mr. Lee, a native South Carolinian, was born and raised in Williamsburg County and has witnessed first-hand the development of South Carolina in the 20th Century; and
Whereas, Mr. Lee worked as a farmer most of his life preserving and representing the values of our nation: hard-working, risk-taking, love of the land; and
Whereas, Mr. Lee also worked as a sower of spiritual seed as Minister of the St. Paul United Methodist Church of Kingstree, South Carolina, where he served the congregation and community for 60 years; and
Whereas, Mr. Lee served his community as President of the Mutual Israelite Society Lodge for 25 years and through his membership in other community groups; and
Whereas, Mr. Lee, who is in good health, currently lives in Kingstree, South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. Van Lee on the occasion of his 100th birthday and extend to him their very best wishes.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Lee.
