A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, LICENSING AND REGULATION, BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS, RELATING TO CONTACT WITH PATIENTS BEFORE PRESCRIBING, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2548, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    The regulations of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, Board of Medical Examiners, relating to contact with patients before prescribing, designated as Regulation Document Number 2548, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.

SECTION    2.    This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.

The Board of Medical Examiners is proposing a regulation that would define and regulate the requirements for the initial prescribing of medications by South Carolina licensed physicians including prescribing via the Internet and toll-free telephone prescribing, and define unprofessional conduct related to initial prescribing.
