TO REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THAT PORTION OF SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY 41 BYPASS, WHICH CREATES PART OF THE BOUNDARY OF WILLIAMSBURG AND GEORGETOWN COUNTIES, BETWEEN SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY 41 AND HORSEPEN CREEK, "SIMPSON PRICE ROAD" AND TO PLACE APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS ON THE HIGHWAY REFLECTING THIS DESIGNATION.
Whereas, Mr. Simpson Price a longstanding resident of Andrews, South Carolina, has lived on South Carolina Highway 41 Bypass since 1938; and
Whereas, he has been an active member of the Andrews community and has provided outstanding leadership and service to many organizations and causes, including the American Legion and the Lion's Club; and
Whereas, Mr. Price, now a widower, is a devoted father, mentor, and friend to his children and large, but close extended family; and
Whereas, the General Assembly is pleased to have the opportunity to honor such an outstanding community leader for his lifetime of contributions to the people of Andrews. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, request the Department of Transportation name that portion of South Carolina Highway 41 Bypass, which creates part of the boundary of Williamsburg and Georgetown Counties, between South Carolina Highway 41 and Horsepen Creek, the "Simpson Price Road" and to place appropriate markers or signs on the highway reflecting this designation.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
