A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ERECT DIRECTIONAL SIGNS AT LOCATIONS WHICH ARE VISIBLE TO THE MOTORING PUBLIC READING "SOUTH CAROLINA ARTISANS CENTER" AND THAT THESE SIGNS MUST BE PLACED AT APPROPRIATE LOCATIONS ON INTERSTATE 95 NEAR EXITS 53 AND 57 IN COLLETON COUNTY.

Whereas, the South Carolina Artisans Center (SCAC) is located in Colleton County; and

Whereas, the center is a non-profit organization featuring the work of over two hundred South Carolinians; and

Whereas, there is no appropriate signage directing visitors to SCAC; and

Whereas, it is the mission of SCAC to interpret, market, preserve, and perpetuate the folk art and fine craftsmanship of South Carolina artisans; and

Whereas, the success of the South Carolina Artisans Center is critically important to the success of the center. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly request that the Department of Transportation take appropriate steps to post directional signs and that these signs must be erected in locations on Interstate 95 and exits 53 and 57 which are visible to the motoring public so that they can safely find their way to the South Carolina Artisans Center.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
