A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND SOUTH CAROLINA DISTRICT 7770 AND AUSTRALIA DISTRICT 9640 OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL FOR THEIR EFFORTS IN PROMOTING INTERNATIONAL GOODWILL THROUGH THEIR EXCHANGE PARTNERSHIP UNDER THE ROTARY GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE PROGRAM.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to acknowledge that Governor Sanford has proclaimed April 20, 2004, as Rotary International Group Study Exchange Day in South Carolina; and

Whereas, the Group Study Exchange Program is an educational program supported by the Rotary Foundation, an endowment fund established in 1917 for international good works; and

Whereas, the exchange program is designed to provide to outstanding business and professional individuals opportunities for learning about another country, its people, and institutions through participation in an organized program of study and discussion; and

Whereas, South Carolina District 7770 of Rotary International is welcoming to South Carolina a delegation from Australia District 9640, in their exchange partnership resulting from the sister-state relationship between them. This delegation from Australia includes Doug Barnier, Peta Eyschen, Yvette Giannake, and Jason Hughes; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to commend Rotary International and these two outstanding districts for their efforts in promoting international goodwill through this exchange program. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly commend South Carolina District 7770 of Rotary International and Australia District 9640 for their efforts in promoting international goodwill through their exchange partnership under the Rotary Group Study Exchange Program.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to South Carolina District 7770 and Australia District 9640 of Rotary International.
