VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO REQUEST APPROPRIATE FEDERAL AND STATE HIGHWAY OFFICIALS TO DESIGNATE HIGHWAY 22, THE CONWAY BYPASS, AS PART OF NEW INTERSTATE HIGHWAY I-73 WHICH CONGRESS HAS AUTHORIZED AND WHICH IS SCHEDULED TO COME WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, the United States Congress in amendments to the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 has authorized several new interstate highways to be part of the interstate highway system of the United States; and
Whereas, the new interstate highway, I-73, is scheduled to come to the boundaries of our State in the coastal area of South Carolina in a specified location; and
Whereas, a present highway in South Carolina is in this location and is suitable for designation as part of this new interstate highway. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly, by this resolution, requests appropriate federal and state highway officials to designate Highway 22, the Conway Bypass, known as the Veterans Highway, as part of new Interstate Highway 73 (I-73) if the South Carolina Department of Transportation, through engineering and consultant professionals on highway construction, determines this is the best route.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the federal highway administration and the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
