A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-5-73 SO AS TO PROVIDE A STATEWIDE UNIFORM ENDING DATE FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF THE STATE TO BE THE LAST DAY OF THE PALMETTO ACHIEVEMENT CHALLENGE TEST AS DETERMINED BY THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Section 1.    Chapter 5, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-5-73.    (A)    Notwithstanding another provision of law, the State Board of Education annually shall set the date for the Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test for the public schools of the State.

(B)    The last day of the Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test must be the last day of the school year for the public schools of the State."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
