VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-1-715 SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE TRIAL OFFICER TO REDUCE A FOUR POINT VIOLATION TO A TWO POINT VIOLATION, WHEN A DEFENDANT PLEADS GUILTY OR NOLO CONTENDERE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 3, Chapter 1, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 56-1-715. When a defendant pleads guilty or nolo contendere to a four point traffic violation, the trial officer, in his discretion may reduce the value of the points by two."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
